Pasadena Magazine’s Women In Business Luncheon

Thursday,  October 15th: Join us for another inspiring day of empowerment and friendship. With a lively panel featuring The “Satellite Sisters” discussing the topic of Friendship in Business. The “Satelitte Sisters” host a pod cast on 85 stations and reach about 1 million listeners a week. They have also been featured in Oprah Magazine. Second Annual JAG Poker Event

Try your hand at poker and win one of three large payouts for top performers. Not in the mood to play poker? Hang out in the patio and enjoy food, music and drinks!

On this special night benefitting Hillsides, there will be a fun second annual JAG poker event, Oct. 15 from 5:30-10:00PM. Last year’s poker event had an overwhelming demand, which created more seats, but you must be sure to register early! The poker buy-in is $125 and non-players are $40, which allows guests to still enjoy food, drinks and entertainment. There are re-buys available for advance purchase for $40.

Hillsides is and has been a safe haven for children and families for 100 years. Originally founded by Deaconess of the Episcopal Church, Evelyn Wile. She wanted to create a place that helped neglected and abandoned children, but not in the typical institutional model. Wile envisioned a place with cottages and open space, so she decided to place Hillsides within the San Rafael hills of Pasadena. Since Hillsides has been opened it has helped 110,000 individuals.

Cancer Support Community Pasadena’s Annual Ladies Night Out

Grab your girlfriends for a night of shopping, games and fun at Cancer Support Community Pasadena’s annual Ladies Night Out Pasadena event

Cancer Support Community Pasadena wants to celebrate the women in our lives who have been touched by cancer, in a fun and festive Carnival theme. Ladies Night Out Pasadena will be presented by Tiffany & Co. and Sue & Steve Silk on Oct. 2 at 6:00PM. The event will be at the home of Diane and Sam Nicholson in our lovely city of Pasadena. There will be games, silent and live auctions, raffles, and a dinner with hosted bar and an online silent auction. Live entertainment will be provided by “Past Action Heroes;” a band that plays music from the 80s that will get guests dancing all night long! The celebrity Emcee for this event will be NBC4 Southern California News Anchor Colleen Williams. The celebrity auctioneers are going to be Lian Dolan, author and comedian, and Alysha Del Valle, ABC7 News and traffic reporter. The co-chairs of this lavish soiree will be Diane Nicholson and Kal Balian Antoun alongside honorary chair Liz Rusnak Arizmendi. Homelessness is No Laughing Matter

Join Union Station Homeless Services and find out why “Homelessness is No Laughing Matter.” This year is the 16th annual “An Evening for the Station,” you’ll be in for a laugh all while helping a worthy cause.

The event is being held at Arclight Pasadena and will host over 400 Union Station supporters. There are also going to be amazing headlining comedians, which include: Jonah and Kumail (Comedy Central’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail), Matt Braunger (MADtv, Live at Gotham), Matt Peters (Showtime’s WEEDS, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black), Ron Funches (NBC’s Undateable, TBS’s Conan) and more. Union Stations Homeless Services mission is to help men, women and children rebuild their lives, and end homelessness. They have been working hard since 1973 when they were just group of community volunteers. They offer nine major programs that provide care for the homeless community and help them with their ultimate goal of having their own place to call their own. All proceeds will benefit Union Station Homeless Services.

Jazz on the Green

Need to let loose and dance the night away with some lively jazz music? Want to encourage self-sufficiency and alleviate the effects on poverty? Then come show off your dance moves and contribute positively at the “Jazz on the Green” festive lawn party.

Hosted by Friends in Deed on September 16th and at the historic Castle Green, the Jazz on the Green lawn party will include live Jazz music, hors d’oeuvres, signature martinis and also a silent auction. Michael Haggins will be performing out on the Castle Green lawn, while The Ryan McDiarmid Trio will be playing inside the Castle Green; so wherever your hips lead you, there’s always beautiful Jazz music to dance to!

For the last 121 years, Friends in Deed has been on the mission to alleviate the effects of poverty and to encourage self-sufficiency through the collective efforts of congregations, individuals and community organizations.  This event will directly benefit programs such as The Bad Weather Shelter, The Women’s Room, and The Food Pantry.

Seventh Annual Harvest Moon Dinner & Art Auction

Thinking of ways to contribute to our children of the future and enjoy time with others that have the same goal in mind? Be a part of success and join the rest of the community at the Seventh Annual Harvest Moon and Art Auction.

The Professional Child Development Associates is hosting the Seventh Annual Harvest Moon Dinner & Art Auction in order to promote the goal of providing high quality services to children and young adults with autism and other developmental challenges. It will be held on Saturday, September 19th at the home of Mario and Therese Molina in South Pasadena. Guests will be able to participate in a silent auction, enjoy appetizers while listening to music performed by the Pasadena Symphony Quartet. Guests will be served a very delicious dinner prepared by the celebrated Chef Claud Beltran of Claud and Co. The PCDA will also provide guests with a presentation of accomplishments of the organization, along with a live action. Carolyn Watson will be this year’s honored recipient of the PCDA’s Community Service Award. Watson is an internationally recognized designer, restoration specialist, philanthropist, as well as being a parent of a PCDA alumnus. Sponsors such as Lockton Insurance, Odom and Kate Stamps, The Harvey and Ellen Knell Foundation, The Burketriolo Family Foundation and United Agencies Inc., and among others will be present along with 300 other guests. PCDA is a nonprofit organization that offers a range of multidisciplinary screening, evaluation, therapy and specialized services for children and young adults, birth through 21 years of age, and their families, when there is any concern regarding development or behavior. PASADENA HEART WALK AT THE ROSE BOWL

Do you have a loved one that has been touched by heart disease or stroke? Do you want to help in the fight against heart disease? Team up with your family and friends and join the American Heart Association for the Pasadena Heart Walk!

On September 26, the Pasadena community is invited to participate in the annual Heart Walk at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The goal of this event is to encourage a culture of healthy living, while raising funds for the fight against heart disease and stroke. Activities include a non-competitive 5K walk/run, a kid zone, health information, and plenty of other fun and interactive activities and entertainment! You and your loved ones will enjoy a day of fun, while being educated in ways to have a healthier life style. Not only will you be benefiting yourself, but the lives of millions who are currently affected by heart diseases. Heart disease and stoke are America’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers. Studies have shown that simple physical activity such as walking can help reduced heart disease and stroke. Through the Heart Walk, you will not only learn how to lead a healthier life, but appreciate the one life you have.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary organization devoted to the fight against heart disease and stroke. Their work involves funding innovative research, fighting for stronger health policies and providing tools and information to help further prevent heart disease and stroke.
