The 23rd annual holiday wreath auction is back once again, a gift of love, a gift of peace, a gift of happiness, may these all be yours this cheerful holiday season!

Join the Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS Charitable foundation for an evening of good cheer, holiday cocktails, an elegant dinner, and the 23rd annual wreath auction! Join us on Friday, December 5th 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Altadena Town & Country Club 2290 Country Club Drive Altadena, CA 91001. Tickets can be purchased online at pfarcf.org/wreathauction for $125 before November 26th and $150 November 27th and after.

Founded in 1907, forty-one of Pasadena’s real estate men came together with the desire to “promote good fellowship and fair dealing” in the industry. Since then their mission is to support local charities actively involved in our community through financial donations with a special emphasis on charities that have low administrative overhead and a focus on disadvantaged and needy populations; to foster tomorrow’s leaders by providing scholarships to graduating public high school students; and to promote public awareness of the positive impact that REALTORS make within our community.

5 Events helping Spread the Holiday Cheer this Thanksgiving Day

It’s that time again to bring out the Turkey and holiday cheer! May you have many reasons for love, laughter, and joy this Thanksgiving holiday! Around this time of year it’s a great time to extend a helping hand to those in need as well. We’ve tracked down a few events for you to give back in this joyful and festive holiday.

1. Thanksgiving Day Run and Food Drive

Family, friends, turkey, pie, and food, food, food! Thats what Thanksgiving night is all about so come work up your appetite and join in on all the action before all the festivities begin! The Community Center of La Canada Flintridge invites you to join them on their 21st annual Thanksgiving Day 5k Run and Food Drive. This Thanksgiving event has been a local tradition and a community favorite with families, athletes, and community supporters of all types! Please bring only non-perishable food items for donations.

2. Giving Back For All We Have Received

Everyone deserves to enjoy a plentiful feast of good food, family, and friends! Join Jacobs Deliverance Foundation Corporation in providing Thanksgiving meals to Veterans, Families in need and local Homeless. 4. Tofurkey Trot

Spread the peace! Turkeys need love and peace too! Join us at the Tofurky Trot Run, designed to support both the health and vitality of local communities and raise money for local groups supporting plant based diets. The 5k run, trot, or walk is open to all levels of physical fitness.  It’s a great day to enjoy the company of fellow plant eaters and highlight the benefits of plant based diets on this largely carnivorous holiday. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable, vegan, and other food items and their furry animal companions!

5. Union Station Homeless Services’ Annual Dinners-in-the-Park

The best way to give thanks is to give back. For more than 40 years, community volunteers who are hungry to help have helped Union Station Homeless Services serve thousands of free meals to homeless and low-income adults and families, senior citizens, and those who are alone at the holidays or unable to afford a holiday meal.

Volunteer registration for Thanksgiving is now closed, but the agency is still in need of non-perishable food donations. A Wish List of much needed items can be found at http://unionstationhs.org/?p=3570.The community is invited to drop off these supplies (in the indicated sizes) at 412 S. Raymond.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Health Department regulations, Union Station Homeless Services is no longer able to accept turkey or prepared food donations at the event.

Christmas comes but once a year, let’s get together for some holiday cheer! Grab all your dolls and holiday gifts, join us with your generous spirit to spread extra love and holiday spirit!

The Professional Child Development Associates invite you to it’s 3rd Annual Holiday Toy Drive to benefit children with Autism and other developmental challenges starting Wednesday, November 12th through Sunday, December 21st 2014 at participating businesses: PCDA, Arroyo Insurance Services, American Red Cross, Bea’s Knees Pasadena, Christian Service Ministry ABVM Pasadena, Jones Coffee Roasters, Pasadena Massage Company, Real Food Daily. Run With Us, Stats, Stats Vape Shop, The Old Town Shaving Company, Whole Foods-Foothill & Arroyo. We ask donations be new, unwrapped, and NOT battery operated.

PCDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to improve the lives of children and young adults who have autism and other developmental challenges, through leadership in family-centered, multidisciplinary services and professional training as a team under the direction of Diane Cullinane, M.D, developmental pediatrician and Mimi Winer, R.N., M.S., child development specialist.

Watch the Magic Unfold- Pasadena Waldorf: Elves’ Faire

Get ready for another beautiful, magical Elves’ Faire! This event is created each fall through the creativity, passion, and dedication of the PWS parents, staff, and faculty as a gift to the greater community.

 

Pasadena Waldorf invites you to the 29th Annual Elves’ Faire. Each fall the Pasadena Waldorf parents, staff, and faculty dedicate their time, creativity, and passion into creating the intricate event known as  the Elves’ Faire. Now on it’s 29th year the event will take place at 209 E. Mariposa St, Altadena CA 91001. The event is free and open to all. Events starts at 10 am and will continue into 4 pm. There will be arts and crafts, games, puppet shows and storytellers, the Elves’ Forest photo studio, music, pixie party, and much more! There will also be different food choices to choose from such as Fairies’ Feast, The Tea Garden, Jack Frost Bake Shoppe, and Beverage Stations.

Waldorf Education is based on educator and philosopher Rudolf Steiner’s (1861-1925) research on child development. The Waldorf approach recognizes the simple insight that children learn in distinctly different ways at different stages of their development. Waldorf teachers are dedicated to teaching in ways that profoundly meet the needs of the developing human being, and the curriculum fosters an unfolding of the student’s natural capacities.

Red Hen Press 20th Anniversary Champagne Luncheon

With the richness of tradition and the promise of tomorrow, Red Hen celebrates 20 years of commitment to publishing literary excellence and promoting literacy for at-risk youth in the community!
